Video Summary

Dr. Jason Dominitz detailed the VA's nationwide implementation of AI in colonoscopy to improve adenoma detection rates (ADR). Following FDA clearance of AI devices, the VA deployed 115 AI systems across facilities, prioritizing low ADR centers. Surveys revealed most endoscopists found AI beneficial, though some noted false positives and training concerns. Data from over 300,000 colonoscopies showed a 21% increased odds of adenoma detection with AI availability, benefiting all endoscopists. The VA adopted AI broadly, purchasing 400 devices nationwide. Ongoing monitoring tracks AI usage and outcomes, illustrating an effective, cautious AI implementation model in healthcare.
