Video Summary

Dr. Nirav Tasani discusses implementing AI in gastroenterology practices, emphasizing the importance of institutional governance for AI adoption. He outlines Houston’s approach involving a multidisciplinary council assessing AI tools for ethical alignment, safety, and strategic fit. Tasani highlights challenges seen in AI for colon cancer screening, such as inflated expectations, alert fatigue, and underperformance compared to trials, leading to initial decline in use. He advocates for explainable AI and human-in-the-loop models to improve adoption. Successful AI integration requires clear goals, pilot testing, transparency, training, and collaboration with stakeholders to harness AI’s true potential in healthcare.
