Hello, welcome to the ASGE livestream event, Advanced Practice Provider Onboarding for the GI Practice. Our aim is for each of you to have a robust learning experience. In addition to experiencing a fantastic course today and tomorrow, each of you will have ongoing access to the recordings from the course via GI Leap, ASG's online learning platform. You already have a GI Leap account, or education bank, as I like to call it. It's where you logged in for the meeting e-syllabus. In the near future, the recordings from the course will populate that account, and we will let you know when they are available. Before the course directors officially kick off the day, a few housekeeping items. My name is Eden Essex, and I will be the announcer for this course. You will be able to submit questions and share comments during the course in two ways. First, you can submit a question at any time online by using the question box on the right-hand side of your screen. If you do not see the question box, please click the white arrow in the orange box located on the right-hand side of your screen. The second way is to raise your hand. You can do this by clicking on the hand icon on the right-hand side of your screen. You will be unmuted and able to ask your question to the presenter or panel during the designated question and answer periods. We recommend that if you choose this option, you are in a quiet place with no additional background noise. This course has been approved for up to 15.5 AMA PRA Category 1 credits. To receive your CME certificate, you must complete the course evaluation. The evaluation form will be available in GI LEAP one hour before the close of the course each day. After completing the evaluation, you will be able to immediately download the CME certificate. Your feedback is extremely helpful in shaping the future of ASG courses and we appreciate your comments. Dr. Aaron Shields joined Rockford Gastroenterology Associates in 2004 and currently serves as managing partner. He specializes in liver disease and disorders of the biliary system and pancreas. At the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford, Dr. Shields holds the title of clinical associate professor of medicine. Dr. Shields is a member of the ASG reimbursement committee and he previously served on the ASG health and public policy committee. Sarah Inslin is a physician assistant at the University of Rochester Medical Center. She received her degree from Rochester Institute of Technology and has over 10 years of experience as a practicing PA in GI. She is a lead advanced practice provider for a large academically based group within the gastroenterology and hepatology division. In addition to her administrative responsibilities, she has a busy clinical practice. She routinely lectures at the Rochester Institute of Technology position assistant program and is a preceptor for APP students from four colleges and universities. Sarah is a member of the ASG practice operations committee. I will now turn the proverbial floor over to Dr. Shields. Well, thank you, Eden, and welcome everyone to our second annual advanced practice provider onboarding course. After the success of our inaugural course last year, we strongly felt the need to continue with this course and based on the attendance, I think you all proved us right. Advanced practice providers are crucial members of the gastroenterology clinical team in delivering high quality and efficient care to our patients. And as I was reviewing the registration list before we opened the course, I was very excited to see that there's a good mix of physicians, advanced practice providers, and other team members participating. Thank you all for joining us, especially those of you who are on the West Coast and had to get out of bed a little extra early this morning. We're certainly glad to have you with us today. I'd also like to thank Olympus Corporation of the Americas for their support of this course, in part via an educational grant. I think we have an excellent faculty, and so without further ado, I'll hand over the presentation to my co-course director, Sarah Enslin. Thank you, Aaron. I too am thrilled at the turnout for this event. I'd like to start out by thanking ASGE and Dr. Vakari. It's a great privilege to co-direct this course with Aaron. We'll start today with education essential to a successful GI APP visit. During our first series of talks, we'll provide an overview of the GI consult, the essentials of a GI note, and we'll look at two case studies for inpatient and outpatient consults and follow-ups.
