The ASGE Annual GI Advanced Practice Provider Course will take place virtually from March 31 to April 1, 2023. The course directors are John A. Martin, MD, FASGE, and Jill Olmstead, DNPc, ANP-BC, CCS-P, FAANP. The course includes various faculty members who will be speaking on different topics related to gastroenterology and endoscopy practice.<br /><br />Day 1 of the course will focus on the introduction, onboarding, and general practice principles in gastroenterology and endoscopy. Topics that will be covered include creating a high-quality GI consultation, optimizing the role of the APP, opportunities for scholarship and research, the APP/MD collaborative relationship, work-life satisfaction strategies, building APP leaders, informed consent, sedation and bowel preparation, management of antithrombotic agents, upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP and EUS, therapeutic endoscopy, billing and coding, medicolegal aspects of endoscopic practice, and contracts and negotiations.<br /><br />Day 2 of the course will center around gastroenterology and hepatology clinical practice, specifically through case-based discussions. Topics include evaluation of abnormal liver function tests, case studies in liver disease, management of liver disease complications, abnormal imaging in GI, celiac disease and other diseases of the small bowel, GERD and Barrett's esophagus, acute pancreatitis update, evaluation and management of IBD, evaluation of acute and chronic diarrhea, the NordICC trial and colorectal cancer screening, and a roundtable discussion.<br /><br />The agenda is subject to change, and there will be opportunities for questions and answers throughout the course.
