Video Summary
In this video, Joe Vacari, co-chair of ASGE APP Task Force, discusses colorectal cancer screening. Screening colonoscopy should begin at age 45 and continue until age 75 for average-risk patients. For those aged 76 to 85, screening should be individualized and based on shared decision-making with doctors. Preferred screening tests include colonoscopy, fecal immunochemical test (FIT), and multi-target stool DNA test with FIT. Colonoscopy is considered the gold standard due to its ability to detect and remove polyps in the same setting. Surveillance intervals after polypectomy depend on the number, size, and histology of the lesions. This video is part of the ASGE APP Annual Advanced Practical Provider Course.
