Pdf Summary
The Annual GI Advanced Practice Provider Course, held virtually on March 20-21, 2026, is designed to enhance the role of advanced practice providers (APPs) in gastroenterology (GI) care. Co-directed by Sarah Kosinski, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, and John A. Martin, MD, FASGE, the course offers a comprehensive curriculum delivered by a multidisciplinary faculty including physicians and APPs with expertise in GI and hepatology.

Day 1 focuses on GI and endoscopy practice fundamentals, beginning with sessions on building strong APP-physician partnerships, mastering clinical and communication skills for GI consults, and understanding pre-procedure essentials. The morning includes core endoscopy topics such as upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, therapeutic endoscopy, ERCP, EUS, EMR, ESD, and innovative third-space endoscopy techniques like POEM. Afternoon breakout sessions provide career development guidance for APPs and address important clinical considerations including diverticulitis, hereditary polyposis syndromes, GLP-1 therapies, and bariatric/endoluminal interventions. The day concludes with radiology case studies addressing pancreatic cystic lesions, biliary strictures, and inflammatory bowel disease imaging.

Day 2 emphasizes GI and hepatology clinical practice through case-based discussions covering abnormal liver function tests, cirrhosis and complications, pancreatitis management, acute and chronic diarrhea, updates on inflammatory bowel disease, constipation and pelvic floor disorders, GERD and Barrett’s esophagus, dysphagia, and GI bleeding. Interactive sessions include a live case challenge where attendees present difficult cases to faculty and a practical workshop on managing pathology and radiology reports.

This dynamic two-day program is aimed at advancing APP clinical expertise, leadership, communication, and procedural knowledge, fostering optimal GI patient care and APP career growth.
