The ASGE Annual GI Advanced Practice Provider Course is a two-day virtual course taking place on April 29-30, 2022. The course is designed to provide advanced practice providers (APPs) in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology with the necessary knowledge and skills to enhance their practice. <br /><br />On Day 1, the course starts with an introduction and overview of general practice principles. Topics covered include the fundamentals of the GI consult, creating a quality GI note, optimizing the role of the APP, and the APP/MD collaborative relationship. There will also be a session on avoiding burnout. After a break, sessions on sedation and analgesia in GI endoscopy, bowel preparation before colonoscopy, and management of anti-thrombotic agents for patients undergoing GI endoscopy will be conducted. The morning concludes with sessions on upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP and EUS, and therapeutic endoscopy. The day ends with sessions on billing and coding, medicolegal aspects of endoscopic practice, and the future of GI and endoscopic practice.<br /><br />On Day 2, the focus shifts to gastroenterology and hepatology clinical practice through case-based discussions. Topics include the evaluation of patients with diarrhea, GERD, and dysphagia. There will also be sessions on abnormal imaging in GI, celiac disease, Barrett's esophagus and endotherapy, pancreas case studies, evaluation and management of IBD, and evaluation of abnormal liver function tests. The day ends with a session on colorectal cancer screening and a roundtable discussion where participants can ask questions. <br /><br />Please note that the agenda is subject to change.
