Welcome to the live stream event ASG's annual GI Advanced Practice Provider course. Our aim is for each of you to have a robust learning experience. In addition to experiencing a fantastic course today and tomorrow, each of you will have ongoing access to the recordings from the course via GI Leap, ASG's online learning management system. You already have a GI Leap account, or education bank as I like to call it. It is where you logged in for the meeting e-syllabus. In the near future, the recordings from the course will populate that account and we will let you know when they're available. Before the course directors officially kick off the day, a few housekeeping items. My name is Eden Essex and I will be the announcer for this course. You will be able to submit questions and comments throughout the course via the Q&A box. Please be sure to use the Q&A box and not the chat box to submit questions and comments. That'll keep us organized. This course has been approved for up to 15 AMA PRA Category 1 credits. To receive your CME certificate, you must complete the course evaluation for each day of attendance. The evaluation form will be available in GI Leap one hour before the close of the course each day. After completing the evaluation, you will be able to immediately download the CME certificate. Your feedback is extremely helpful in shaping the future of ASG courses and we appreciate your comments. Faculty disclosures can be found in your program materials and all potential conflicts of interest were resolved prior to this course. Now it is my pleasure to introduce our course directors. Sarah Inslin is a physician assistant at the University of Rochester Medical Center. She received her degree from Rochester Institute of Technology and has over 10 years of experience as a practicing PA and GI. She is the advanced practice provider manager for the University Medicine Service Line and co-lead advanced practice provider for the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. In addition to administrative responsibilities, she has a busy clinical practice with special interest in pancreatic obiliary disease and GI oncology. She routinely lectures at the Rochester Institute of Technology Physician Assistance Program and is a preceptor for APP students from four colleges and universities. Sarah is a member of the ASGE Practice Operations Committee. Dr. Vivek Kahl is the Siegel Watson Professor of Medicine and former Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. His clinical, research, and medical education efforts are focused in therapeutic endoscopy endosurgery, interventional endoscopic ultrasound, and advanced ERCP. He also specializes in esophageal endotherapy for Barrett's and esophageal cancer. He has specific expertise in complex interventional endoscopy, especially in the patient with GI cancer. Dr. Kahl has extensive experience in collaborating with and mentoring subspecialty APPs in gastroenterology and hepatology. Dr. Kahl is a member of ASGE's reimbursement committee. I will now turn the proverbial floor over to Dr. Kahl. Thank you, Eden, and welcome all to our third annual GI advanced practice provider course. I'm thankful to the ASGE and the entire ASGE team and Dr. Vicari for giving us the opportunity to do this course. We strongly felt the need to continue this course, and you proved us right. I was eyeballing the registration this morning, and it's north of 200 attendees, and that's amazing. So thank you all for attending this course and making this a huge success that it is. Also, thanks to the Olympus Corporation of the Americas for supporting this course in part by an educational grant. We have an all-star faculty team that will be introduced very soon. And without further ado, I will hand over the presentation and the floor to my co-course director, Sarah Enslin, PA. Thank you. Thank you, Dr. Kahl. I'm also very excited. I think the turnout is wonderful. This will be a great two days. We're going to start today with GI-specific education, which is essential to a successful GI APP visit. During our first series of talks, we'll have an overview of the GI consult and the essentials of a GI note, and then some guidance on onboarding and professional development to optimize the role of the APP. We'll then continue into discussions on a successful APP-physician collaborative relationship, and finally, avoiding burnout.
