The ASGE Annual GI Advanced Practice Provider Course is a virtual two-day course designed for advanced practice providers (APPs) in gastroenterology practices, as well as physicians and practice staff who work with or supervise them. The course focuses on building collaborative working relationships and integrating APPs into the clinical team. Day one covers the roles and responsibilities of APPs, practice management, and professional development, while day two delves into advanced topics like pancreatic disease, dysphagia, GI bleeding, IBD, and GI emergencies.<br /><br />The course has several learning objectives, including developing optimal GI consultation skills, identifying billing codes for GI consultation, best practices for preparing patients for procedures, understanding key medicolegal principles, developing an onboarding program for APPs, and strategies for developing APP leaders. The second day covers best clinical practices for endoscopic procedures, evaluation and management algorithms for common GI symptoms and diseases, patient evaluation for liver disease, IBD, acute pancreatitis, Celiac disease, and Barrett's esophagus, interpretation of GI imaging tests, and knowledge of the NordICC Trial Study and education strategies for patients and referring physicians.<br /><br />The target audience for the course includes APPs who are new to GI or looking for a refresher, APP supervisors, physician leaders, and administrators responsible for onboarding APPs and developing effective collaboration. Physicians can earn up to 14.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™, while other healthcare professionals will receive a certificate of participation.<br /><br />The course is committed to providing high-quality, evidence-based education, and all financial relationships of committee members and staff planners are disclosed and peer-reviewed for potential conflicts of interest. Patient privacy is protected in accordance with HIPAA.<br /><br />Participants can claim credit for the course by completing an online evaluation survey through ASGE's Learning Management System.
