Video Transcription
Basement to bedside, real-time cholangioscopy artificial intelligence for biliary strictures. The diagnosis of biliary strictures is an enduring challenge given that current standard sampling modalities available to endoscopists are inadequate. Sampling modalities for biliary strictures include brush cytology, forceps biopsy, and EUS guided FNA-FNB. While brush cytology and forceps biopsy are highly specific for classifying biliary strictures, both modalities have sensitivities of less than 50%. EUS guided FNA-FNB of biliary strictures improves sensitivity, however this technique is limited to the distal bile duct given concerns of transperitoneal sampling and needle track seeding of perihylar lesions. Cholangioscopy is an alternative method to visualize and sample areas of concern within the biliary tree directly.
Video Summary
Real-time cholangioscopy AI aids in diagnosing biliary strictures by providing better visualization and sampling than standard techniques such as brush cytology and forceps biopsy. These methods have limited sensitivity, while EUS guided FNA-FNB improves sensitivity but is restricted to the distal bile duct. Cholangioscopy offers a way to directly visualize and sample areas of concern within the biliary tree.
