Pdf Summary
This case study involves a 33-year-old male patient who presents with chronic heartburn and night time regurgitation. He scores 30 on the GERD-HRQL scale without taking PPI medication. The patient does not experience chest pain or dysphagia. His heartburn is nearly completely resolved when taking PPI medication twice daily, and his regurgitation improved after he lost weight. The patient has a non-dysplastic Barrett's esophagus and has undergone radiofrequency ablation (RFA) with complete resolution of intestinal metaplasia (CRIM). He also has a Hill grade II hiatal hernia and an ineffective motility disorder with normal lower esophageal sphincter (LES) relaxation. Despite these treatments, the patient is dissatisfied with his current condition and there is concern for the recurrence of Barrett's esophagus.
