Pdf Summary
The ASGE (American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy) AI Taskforce is focused on advancing the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in endoscopic imaging and gastroenterology. The task force's mission and vision are to pursue the advancement, validation, and implementation of AI for the benefit of patients, members, and the profession.

The major focus areas of the task force include member education, guidance, validation, and innovation priorities. They aim to provide education and guidance on utilizing AI in GI practice and research, as well as develop standardized methods for data storage and sharing. The task force also focuses on validating AI tools and identifying outcome measures for AI interventions.

The ongoing projects of the task force include organizing the GI-AI Annual Meeting in 2022 and promoting member education through AI masterclasses and workshops. They also encourage member submissions to their journal and publication, GIE, which has a dedicated issue on AI.

In the long term, the task force aims to develop a repository of endoscopic images and videos through their project called Endonet. They also prioritize the development of AI algorithms validation and benchmarking, certification of AI algorithms, and the development of AI-based quality metrics.

To evaluate AI algorithms, the task force emphasizes clinical effectiveness, transparency, and clinical implementation. This includes assessing clinical performance, conducting AI randomized controlled trials, and evaluating metrics for detection, localization, segmentation, and natural language processing tasks. The task force also highlights the importance of explainability, interpretability, privacy, and security in AI models.

Lastly, the task force aims to build collaboration across various stakeholders in the GI-AI ecosystem, including funding agencies, health IT industry, hospital systems, medical societies, physicians, software developers, and regulatory agencies.
