Pdf Summary
The ASGE “Best of DDW” webinar highlighted research in lesion detection, value, and endoscopic innovation, alongside updates to DDW programming. Improving lesion detection: A multicenter randomized trial tested eye-tracking feedback that alerts endoscopists when their gaze leaves areas of interest, aiming to improve colorectal adenoma detection. Improving value: The COBRA trial compared one day of antibiotics with 4–7 days after adequate biliary drainage for acute cholangitis. It assessed whether the shorter course was non-inferior for clinical cure. A 15-year community cohort examined progression to high-grade dysplasia or esophageal adenocarcinoma in patients with Barrett’s esophagus, including a predefined low-risk group. Innovation: An international randomized trial found no recurrence of malignant gastric outlet obstruction with EUS-guided gastroenterostomy (EUS-GE), compared with 15.4% after enteral stenting; procedure-related adverse-event rates were similar. Follow-up from two trials compared one-year outcomes of EUS-guided biliary drainage with ERCP for malignant distal obstruction. A first-in-human study of a robotic colonoscope reported cecal intubation in all 40 procedures, no adverse events, and an adenoma detection rate of 54.2%. The webinar also featured video highlights on advanced endoscopic procedures and outlined DDW changes: a unified program committee, streamlined abstract categories, expanded electronic posters and learning resources, and sustainability measures. New DDW categories include pediatrics and microbiome. ASGE awards recognize research on health equity, quality improvement, and EUS training. Abstract submissions for DDW 2027 open October 22 and close December 2, 2026. DDW will take place May 15–18, 2027.
