Video Summary
The ASGE webinar reviewed notable endoscopy research presented at Digestive Disease Week 2026 and updates for future meetings.

Featured studies found that gaze guidance encouraging colonoscopists to inspect the screen’s periphery increased abnormal findings; one day of antibiotics was non-inferior to 4–7 days after adequate biliary drainage for cholangitis; and Barrett’s surveillance sometimes detected cancer beyond an early, curable stage, underscoring the need for better strategies. Other research suggested EUS-guided gastroenterostomy may reduce recurrent malignant gastric outlet obstruction compared with enteral stenting, while EUS-guided biliary drainage and ERCP had similar long-term outcomes in patients surviving beyond a year. A first-in-human robotic colonoscopy study showed technical feasibility and reduced perceived workload.

Three videos demonstrated advanced techniques: ampullary ESD with suturing, autologous mucosal grafting for complex defects and fistulas, and an EUS-guided approach to pancreaticojejunostomy stenosis after Whipple surgery.

Organizers also described DDW’s unified, cross-society programming, streamlined abstract categories, expanded electronic posters, and sustainability efforts. ASGE abstract awards will recognize health-equity research, trainee quality-improvement projects, and fellow-led EUS research. DDW 2027 will take place in Washington, D.C., May 15–18; abstract submissions open October 22 and close December 2.
