The ASGE (American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy) is offering a two-day First Year Fellows Endoscopy Course on July 31-August 1, 2022. The course will be held at the ASGE Institute for Training and Technology (IT&T) in Downers Grove, Illinois.<br /><br />The course is designed for fellows in their first year of training and covers a comprehensive review of endoscopic technique and clinical management. The curriculum includes upper and lower endoscopy, case-based endoscopic intervention, foreign body management, diagnostic upper endoscopy, advanced techniques, and more.<br /><br />A unique feature of the course is a hands-on training session using ex-vivo animal models at the IT&T. The program starts with didactic sessions and then participants are split into two groups, rotating between hands-on sessions and more didactic content. Business casual attire is appropriate for all functions.<br /><br />The learning objectives of the course include performing diagnostic upper and lower endoscopy, mastering sedation techniques, understanding infection control guidelines, managing foreign bodies and bowel obstructions, diagnosing and managing GI bleeding, handling endoscopes and devices, and recognizing the principles of feeding tube placement.<br /><br />Physicians attending the course can claim up to 11 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. To claim credit, participants must complete an online evaluation survey through GI LEAP, ASGE's Learning Management System. <br /><br />The ASGE assures high-level scientific evidence and adherence to neutrality in all educational activities. All subject matter experts, committee members, and staff planners involved in the course have disclosed their relevant financial relationships.<br /><br />The course planners include members of the ASGE Training Committee, and the course directors are Sunil Dacha, MD and Sunil G.
