Hello, welcome to the ASGE livestream event, GI Endoscopy Unit Leadership, Mapping the Specifications for a High-Performing Unit. This is the second day of the ASGE Go! Practice Management Trifecta, so we are welcoming many of you back for day two of this four-day arc of courses, and many of you are joining us new. In addition to engaging in the live event today, each of you will have ongoing access to the recordings from the course via GI Leap, ASG's online learning management system. You already have a GI Leap account, or education bank as I like to call it. It's where you logged in for the course agenda and slide decks. In the near future, the recordings from the course will populate that account, and we will let you know when they're available. Before the course directors officially kick off the day, a few housekeeping items. My name is Eden Essex, and I will be the announcer for this course. You will be able to submit questions and comments throughout the course via the Q&A box. Please be sure to use the Q&A box and not the chat box to submit questions or comments. That'll keep us organized. This course has been approved for 7.25 AMA PRA Category 1 credits. To receive your CME certificate, you must complete the course evaluation. The evaluation form will be available in GI Leap one hour before the close of the course. After completing the evaluation, you'll be able to immediately download the CME certificate. Your feedback is extremely helpful in shaping the future of ASG courses, and we appreciate your comments. Faculty disclosures can be found in your program materials, and all potential conflicts of interest were resolved prior to this course. Now it is my pleasure to introduce our course directors. Dr. Pega Hosseini-Carroll is an assistant professor at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and the associate program director for the Digestive Diseases Fellowship Program. She's the secretary treasurer for the Mississippi Gastroenterology Society, and is slated to serve as president in 2023. Dr. Hosseini-Carroll is an alumnus of the ASGE Leadership, Education, and Development Program, and currently serves on the ASGE Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Dr. Nasser Khan is the system medical director and chief of gastroenterology for Mercy Health, Wisconsin and Illinois. He is also an assistant clinical professor of medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford. Dr. Khan has a special interest in healthcare economics and serves on ASG's Health and Public Policy Committee. Dr. Anessa Heickes is a clinical assistant professor of medicine at the New York University School of Medicine, and a managing partner with Vanguard Gastroenterology in New York City. She has been a member of the Kips Bay Endoscopy Center for seven years. Dr. Heickes is an alumnus of the ASGE Leadership, Education, and Development Program, and currently serves as the chair of the ASGE Practice Operations Committee. Dr. Ravi Singh is the director of endoscopy at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital, and current medical director of Great South Bay Endoscopy in New York. He has served on the ASGE Practice Operations Committee, and is currently a member of the ASGE Quality Assurance and Endoscopy Committee. Each of the course directors will offer opening opening remarks to start the program. We will begin with Dr. Khan. Thank you Eden, and welcome all to our sixth GI endoscopy unit leadership course. The agenda for this course changes year to year, building on the foundation of establishing and maintaining a culture of quality and safety in our GI endoscopy units. Quality is a horizontal thread that runs through the tapestry of all that we do to provide safe, efficient, and effective care to our patients. As Inessa, Ravi, Pega, and I were designing the course, it was clear that 2020, from the public health emergency to events that have advanced dialogues on diversity, equity, and inclusion, continue to profoundly impact our lives in a multitude of ways. What has proven to endure through it all is the strength of the GI community, coming together to share our learnings with a constant eye to patients we serve. I was reviewing the registration list before we opened the course, and was excited to see the mix of physicians and nurse leaders and other team members participating. I would like to extend my thanks to you all for joining us today, and to our all-star faculty team. It is going to be a terrific day. Inessa, I will hand the audience to you. Thank you, Nasser. As New Yorkers, we found ourselves in the epicenter of pandemic in spring of 2022. The first infections came with a terrifying swiftness, and we had to address a myriad of issues with immediacy to care for our patients, to care for our staff members, to keep ourselves safely, and to keep our businesses afloat. Our discussions today will focus on building a robust infrastructure, so your endoscopy unit can pivot quickly to ensure the crucial elements of business continuity in good times and in crisis. Pega, I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Thank you, Inessa. I'm excited for the day ahead. Today's course is a forum for the vital issues we face in our GI endoscopy units. The entire agenda is terrific, and I'm especially looking forward to our discussion centered on creating high-performance teams. Quality is a team sport, and as we actively work to tap the potential of each individual team member, we can develop and sustain dynamic, adaptive, and inclusive endoscopy teams. Nasser, you're up. Thank you, Pega. I certainly echo the sentiments expressed by each of you. The evolving landscape of healthcare with changes driven by market consolidation, the regulatory landscape, the introduction of private equity, and the impact of the COVID pandemic on practices nationwide demand that we adapt to survive. But as you know, as the GI community, we just don't settle to survive. We look to thrive. Before I start us off with the first talk of the day, we would like to extend our thanks again to sponsors, as well as our exhibitors, who you can connect with our virtual exhibit hall in GI LEAP. Now without further ado, I will get us started.
