You already have a GILeap account, or education bank as I like to call it. It's where you logged in for the meeting e-syllabus. In the near future, the recordings from the course will populate that account, and we will let you know when they're available. Before the course directors officially kick off the day, a few housekeeping items. My name is Eden Essex, and I will be the announcer for this course. You will be able to submit questions and comments throughout the course, both verbally and in writing via the Q&A box. Dr. Gerard Eisenberg is the Chief Medical Quality Officer at the Digestive Health Institute, Associate Chief and Director of Clinical Operations for the Division of GI and Liver Disease, the UH Master Clinician, and Professor of Medicine at University Hospitals and Case Western University. He currently serves on the ASG Quality Assurance and Endoscopy Committee. Dr. Sian Abdi is the Clinical Director of the Division of Gastroenterology and Medical Director for Ambulatory Services at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Abdi currently serves on the ASG Quality Assurance and Endoscopy Committee. I will now turn the proverbial floor over to Dr. Abdi. Thank you, Eden, and welcome to all to our eighth offering of the GI Unit Leadership Course. As Gerard and I were planning this event and looking back at past agendas, we were struck by how very different each course has been. Each has been designed to meet the moment, and we trust you will find the true nature of today's course. Improvement is a dynamic and ongoing journey of learning, collaboration, patience, and respect. I applaud each of you being here today and engaging our discussion throughout the day. We hope they stimulate further discussion amongst your teams over the next week and beyond. Before we dive in, we would like to extend our thanks to Olympus Corporation of Americas for its support for this course, in part by an educational grant. Now, without further ado, I will hand off to my co-course director, Dr. Gerard Eisenberg, for his opening remarks and our first presentation. Thank you for joining us today for this exciting program. Thank you, Sine, for your partnership in developing our wonderful agenda, and to our outstanding all-star faculty, including Sine herself, Lisa, Mary Rose, Rosa, Xinxin, and TR for providing their expertise and wisdom today. Before we begin, I want to give a shout out to Eden Essex, the master of ceremonies and the dynamic engine who made all of this possible. She pushed each of us to reach for the skies and develop this course, and also to our lurking behind-the-scene tech extraordinaire, Bernie Dudek. Some of you realize that this course is a bit different than those given in the past interspersed throughout our program. We will be asking audience participation questions during each lecture, and after each session of lectures, we invite all of you to participate in case-based discussions that highlight some of the teaching points given during the lectures, as we found that everyone learns from each other, including yours truly, and the other faculty members. I think that you will find that each lecture could easily be a course in of itself, and I'm sure you'll be clamoring for more. So I'm looking forward to a great day, and I also look forward to hearing your thoughts, comments, and suggestions throughout the day. So without further ado, I'm going to get us started.
