Hello. Good morning, everyone. Mike, if I can have you on as well. This is Prateek Sharma from Kansas City, and I'd like to, on behalf of the ASGE, welcome all of you to our second annual Artificial Intelligence in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Summit. As you know, we had the first one last year in person in Washington, D.C., and based on the success of that, we are moving forward with this one, for obvious reasons, being virtual. So, Mike, again, welcome, and it's a pleasure for me to again host this program with Mike Wallace from the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. For all the attendees, again, I think it's a global audience, so welcome in whatever time zones you are in. It's good morning here in Kansas City. And our goal for the summit today as we move along is at least threefold, if not more, but if you look at why do we want and why are we interested in artificial intelligence and gastroenterology, what we'd like to do by the end of this summit is provide you with a robust AI decision framework which can help you consider factors associated with implementing artificial intelligence in GI and endoscopy for cancer screening and surveillance and equip you with the right questions that then you can ask to see how does it fit in your practice. Also, we want to make sure that you're aware of how AI-powered solutions can help transform gastroenterology and endoscopy care with diseases, you know, opportunities for disease monitoring, clinical workflow, and your endoscopy unit organization. And finally, we'd also like to provide you with insights into various AI-based techniques and technologies which will impact and can improve upon traditional GI care structures. So I hope that at the end of the summit we are able to achieve several of these goals and that you will feel how AI can actually empower you as we move forward. So if we go to the next slide, I'll just go over our esteemed faculty. And here we have a list of who's who in gastroenterology and endoscopy on the tech side, on the bioinformatics side, on the regulator side, so that, you know, we can have this ecosystem of artificial intelligence in gastroenterology and endoscopy to move the field forward. We just can't do it as endoscopists, neither can industry do it. So I think we need to work together in order to do that. So I just wanted to thank all our faculty, number one, for accepting our invitation from ASG's behalf to do this, but more importantly, again, in different time zones, whether it's evening or nighttime in China, for example, for them to be able to log on and to do that. So thank you all, faculty, for doing that with us. Again, this is impossible without sponsorship. So if we look at our sponsors, this is provided by educational grants from Medtronic, Fujifilm, and Steris. And again, I'd just like to acknowledge them as well as thank them for the generous support that they've provided for the AI summit today. As we move into the program, you will see in the agenda that it's followed, has two lectures followed by a panel discussion. And the lectures are brief to the point, and then we'll have the interactive session. That's where you, the audience, can interact with the panelists, with the moderators, with the speakers. And you can see how you can ask these questions, which is right on your screen. So just go to that area where it says, you know, question, put in your question that will come to us, and those will be then sent over to the moderators and then to their respective panelists. So please, you know, do utilize this opportunity for the experts that we've gathered together today to, you know, pick their brains, ask them questions related to their specific topics or the sessions that we are going to do as this. So engagement is critical, and with this format, it becomes even more critical. So we're hoping that the moderators will, number one, keep us on time, honest, but also, you know, keep this really live and engaging. And, you know, Mike and I will chime in, in between, you know, to make sure that we are on time and doing this. Photography and recording, obviously, of this is prohibited. The course, for those of you who may miss certain portions of this, is being recorded, and it will be available on the ASGE's educational platform, GI Leap, in approximately two weeks. So you can enjoy and, you know, go back to those recordings that you may have missed at that time. So, and finally, I'd just like to thank the ASGE staff. You know, it seems like this is a virtual event, and all we need to do is just turn on our webcams and everything happens. But really, there is a lot of work, probably the same as in an in-person meeting, if not more, which goes behind this. So I'd just, on behalf of Mike, like to thank all the ASGE staff who, over the last several weeks, have been working really hard and diligently to make this happen. So again, welcome, one and all, and thank you for being with us. And Mike, over to you as we move forward with the proceedings. And Mike, again, thanks for being with me and for all your efforts that you always put in. Good. It's a pleasure to be here with you all this morning. Thanks to my co-course director, Prateek Sharma.
Video Summary
The speaker, Prateek Sharma, welcomes viewers to the second annual Artificial Intelligence in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Summit, organized by the ASGE. Due to the success of the first summit held in-person in Washington, D.C., this year's event is being conducted virtually. The goals of the summit are to provide attendees with an AI decision framework for implementing AI in GI and endoscopy, highlight how AI-powered solutions can transform care, and share insights into AI-based techniques and technologies. The speaker acknowledges the faculty and sponsors who have made the summit possible and emphasizes the importance of audience engagement. The event is being recorded and will be available on ASGE's educational platform, GI Leap, in two weeks. The speaker thanks the ASGE staff for their hard work in organizing the summit and hands over to Mike Wallace from the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, who also expresses his pleasure in being part of the event.
