Hello, and welcome to the ASGE live stream of our Go In-Depth workshop, Uncover What's Missing in Staff Retention and Recruitment. In addition to engaging in the live event today, each of you will have ongoing access to the recordings from the workshop via GILeap, ASG's online learning management system. You already have a GILeap account. It's where you logged in for the workshop e-syllabus. In the near future, the recordings from the course will populate that account, and we will let you know when they're available. Before our course director officially kicks off the day, a few housekeeping items. My name is Eden Essex, and I will be the announcer throughout the day. First, we'd like to direct you to a handout. You received it via email. You also can access it via GILeap, or most conveniently, you can access it right now via the chat box. So if you don't have this worksheet, we're going to ask that you go ahead and try to retrieve it right now out of your email or via the chat box. This course has been approved for 4.0 AMA PRA Category 1 credits. To receive your CME certificate, you must complete the course evaluation. The evaluation form will be available in GILeap one hour before the close of the course. After completing the evaluation, you will be able to immediately download the CME certificate. Your feedback is extremely helpful in shaping the future of ASG courses, and we appreciate your comments. Faculty disclosures can be found in your program materials, and all potential conflicts of interest were resolved prior to this course. We will be maximizing on Zoom functionality today. This will be a highly interactive discussion, so please engage via the chat box when asked, or better yet, raise your hand, and we'd be happy to open your phone line. Honestly, we would love that. Questions can go in the Q&A box, and those will be asked at the end of the particular segment. We will also be running polls throughout the morning. So get ready to engage. Let's question, share, and inspire one another. Now it is my pleasure to introduce our course director, Dr. Anessa Heickes. Dr. Heickes is a clinical professor of medicine at New York University School of Medicine. She's a managing partner of the Vanguard Gastroenterology Group in New York City, and serves on the management board of Kipp's Bay Endoscopy Center. Dr. Heickes is an alumnus of the ASG Leadership, Education, and Development program, and currently serves as chair of the ASG Practice Operations Committee. I will now turn the proverbial floor over to Dr. Heickes. And welcome all to this special event, a workshop dedicated to thinking about, or maybe it's better to say rethinking, staff recruitment, retention, and most importantly, well-being. Staffing challenges in healthcare continue to be acute, with few signs of recovery. And our specialty is not immune. What keeps me positive through these particularly challenging times is our specialty of gastroenterology, gastroenterology itself. GI abounds with exciting opportunities for innovation and reinvention, and we are so effortlessly drawn to capitalize on team-based care, valuing each other team member's contribution to optimal patient outcomes. I was reviewing the registration list before we opened the course, and was excited to see the mix of physicians, nurses, and other team member participating. I would like to extend my thanks to you all for joining us today, and to our all-star faculty team. It is going to be a terrific day. Now it is my pleasure to introduce Dr. Richard Safir. For the past 20 years, a workplace health pioneer and thought leader, Richard Safir has assessed cultures, trained leaders, and conducted and explored research on the intersection of individual and organizational behavior. Dr. Safir currently serves as a chief medical director of employee health and well-being for John Hopkins Medicine, where he leads the Healthy at Hopkins employee health and well-being strategy. Previously, he was a medical director of preventative medicine for Care First Blue Cross Blue Shield in Baltimore, Maryland. In January 2023, with the publisher Wiley, Dr. Safir released A Cure for the Common Company, a well-being prescription for a happier, healthier, and more resilient workforce. Dr. Safir is the first author to provide a step-by-step roadmap for creating a well-being culture that integrates science with practical solutions, as demonstrated by the numerous real stories from successful companies. Dr. Safir, the audience is yours.
