Pdf Summary
The 2026 IBUS Regional Hybrid Module I Workshop, organized in collaboration with ASGE, is a two-day introductory program for healthcare professionals preparing to use intestinal ultrasound (IUS) in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) care. It combines pre- and post-course eLearning with lectures, supervised hands-on practice, case studies, and expert discussion.

Pre-course modules cover IUS fundamentals, IBD, ultrasound physics, equipment, and technique. In-person sessions introduce IUS’s role in treat-to-target care, disease assessment, treatment monitoring, scoring, and comparison with other imaging methods. Participants practice scanning and interpreting normal and abnormal findings in ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, including postoperative disease and complications such as strictures, fistulas, and abscesses. Case simulations reinforce examination, interpretation, and treatment-planning skills.

The workshop also addresses clinical implementation, including workflows, documentation, billing and reimbursement, and integration with electronic health records and imaging systems. A patient panel, expert discussion, post-course resources, and guidance on further training support continued learning.

By the end of the course, participants should be able to describe core IUS principles, perform foundational techniques, recognize bowel findings, apply results to clinical decisions and treatment monitoring, and identify practical steps for incorporating IUS into practice. The event is scheduled for November 6–7, 2026, at ASGE’s facility in Downers Grove, Illinois, with virtual participation noted.
