The ASGE Quality Course is a live-streamed event designed to educate physicians and non-physician staff of endoscopy units on how to improve quality and safety in their practice. The course will cover topics such as maintaining and improving safety, endoscope reprocessing, and patient satisfaction. Participants will learn about measures of quality in endoscopy, techniques to make their units more efficient and safer, and methods to improve doctor-patient communication. They will also gain knowledge about potential sources of infection and measures to ensure quality assurance in their units. This course is aimed at practicing gastrointestinal endoscopists and surgeons, medical directors, nurse managers, unit managers, and allied professionals interested in advancing their knowledge in endoscopy unit quality and safety. Units interested in applying for the ASGE Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program are encouraged to send both a physician and a non-physician manager to the course. The course is eligible for continuing medical education credits, and participants must complete an evaluation survey to claim credit. The course is designed to meet ASGE's Level 2 - Satisfaction outcome-based education scale and addresses desirable physician attributes such as medical knowledge, practice-based learning and improvement, patient-centered care, and evidence-based practice. The course is planned by the Quality Assurance in Endoscopy Committee and the Education Council of ASGE. The course directors and faculty disclose their relevant financial relationships, which have been mitigated. The course is supported by an educational grant from Olympus Corporation of the Americas.
