Hello, and welcome to the ASG live stream event, Improving Quality and Safety in Your Endoscopy Unit. In addition to engaging in the live event today, each of you will have ongoing access to the recordings from the course via GILeap, ASG's online learning management system. You already have a GILeap account, or education bank as I like to call it. It's where you logged in for the meeting e-syllabus. In the near future, the recordings from the course will populate that account, and we'll let you know when they're available. Before the course directors officially kick off the day, a few housekeeping items. My name is Eden Essex, and I will be the announcer for this course. You will be able to submit questions and comments throughout the course via the question and answer box. Please be sure to use the Q&A box and not the chat box to submit questions or comments. That'll keep us organized. This course has been approved for seven AMA PRA Category 1 credits. To receive your CME certificate, you must complete the course evaluation. The evaluation will be available in GILeap one hour before the close of the course. After completing the evaluation, you will be able to immediately download the CME certificate. Your feedback is extremely helpful in shaping the future of ASG courses, and we appreciate your comments. Faculty disclosures can be found in your program materials, and all potential conflicts of interest were resolved prior to this course. Now it is my pleasure to introduce our course directors. Dr. Anna Deloy is an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Colorado and a practicing gastroenterologist with UC Health's Digestive Health Center and Schutz Medical Campus. Her clinical interests focus on interventional gastroenterology. Dr. Deloy is an alumnus of the ASG Leadership, Education, and Development Program and currently serves on the ASG Quality Assurance and Endoscopy Committee. Dr. Rahul Shimpi is an assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at Duke University Medical Center. His clinical focus is on esophageal disorders, and he is the co-founder and the medical director of the Esophageal Center at Duke. Dr. Shimpi currently serves on the ASG Quality Assurance and Endoscopy Committee. I will now turn the proverbial floor over to Dr. Deloy. Thank you, Eden. Welcome to our 42nd offering of the Improving Quality and Safety in Your Endoscopy Unit course. I'm so excited we are coming together in October. A month that includes both National Healthcare Quality Week and International Infection Prevention Week. Quality and safety truly are the threads that run through all we do to provide safe, effective, efficient care to our patients, and this work takes every member of the healthcare team working at the top of his or her game. I was reviewing the registration list before we opened the course and was excited to see the mix of physicians, nurses, and other team members participating. I would like to extend my thanks to everyone for joining us today and to our all-star faculty team. It's going to be a great day. Before we start, we would like to extend our thanks to Braintree, a part of Cibela Pharmaceuticals, Olympus Corporation of the Americas, and Pentax Medical for their support of this course in part via educational grants. You will find Braintree exhibiting in our virtual exhibit hall. I will now hand off to my co-course director, Dr. Rahul Shimpi, for his opening remarks and our first presentation. Well, thank you, Anna. I, too, am thrilled at the turnout for this event, and thank you to all the attendees for joining us today. Our talks and discussions today will cover a wide range of relevant topics pertinent to the provision of high quality and safe care in our endoscopy units. I would also like to take a moment to highlight the fact that we are going to be emphasizing principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, or DEI, as they relate to quality and safety throughout today's course. We know the importance of DEI and the delivery of high quality health care across medicine, and this is, of course, true in our endoscopy units. All of our speakers will discuss aspects of DEI in their talks, and we have a full talk dedicated to DEI and GI coming up as well.
