Masterclass: Advanced GI Endoscopic Imaging (Live/Virtual) | December 2025-Roadmap for New Imaging Technology

Video Transcription

Video Summary

Dr. Prateek Sharma discusses the current and future roadmap of imaging technologies in GI endoscopy, emphasizing the transition from high-definition white light imaging and image-enhanced endoscopy (IEE) to AI-assisted procedures. He highlights the need for standardized, high-quality endoscopic practices, including proper bowel preparation and systematic mucosal inspection, as the foundation before adopting new technologies. The practical use of IEE should focus on lesion detection, characterization, delineation, and guiding therapy. Looking ahead, AI, particularly computer-aided detection (CADI) and quality automation, will become integral for enhancing detection consistency, workflow efficiency, and decision support in endoscopy. Future advances include computational and multimodal endoscopy integrating imaging, histology, and patient data for comprehensive management. Dr. Sharma underscores the importance of cautious adoption, addressing risks like alert fatigue, biases, and data governance. He concludes that new imaging technologies should be judged by their ability to improve clinical outcomes, with today’s emphasis on enhancement and tomorrow’s on assistance through AI.
