On the Bleeding Edge: Mastering GI Emergencies and Inpatient GI Consultation (Live and Virtual)| September 2026-Live Tool Demonstration

Video Transcription

Video Summary

Dr. Tao presents a virtual tour of endoscopic hemostasis and rescue devices, using prerecorded demonstrations followed by a dry-lab review of his five favorite products.

The session compares hemostatic powders, including differences in capacity, cost, clogging, visibility, and delivery technique. It also demonstrates a clear gel agent for diffuse oozing, band-ligation systems, emergency lithotripsy for an impacted stone basket, and a through-the-scope esophageal stent for refractory variceal bleeding. Several clips are compared, with attention to rotation, jaw design, and short versus long tails for maneuvering in tight spaces. Examples show advanced clips closing defects that standard clips may not manage.

Dr. Tao’s five favorites are the Taiwun Niti-S esophageal stent, Micro-Tech Surefire bander, Micro-Tech DAT Slim clip, Boston Scientific Mantis clip, and Micro-Tech hemostatic forceps. He highlights the stent’s large diameter, the bander’s rapid setup, and the clips’ tissue-grasping and closure capabilities. The forceps are praised for rapid passage, suction compatibility, and grasping power. The session concludes with a recap and an invitation to attend future in-person training.
