Video Summary
In this video, Dr. Amir Rumin presents and discusses several abstracts related to lower gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy. The first abstract focuses on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in detecting adenomas during colonoscopy. The study showed that an AI system increased adenoma detection rates by 22% in non-expert endoscopists, without increasing withdrawal time or resection of non-neoplastic polyps.

The second abstract examines the use of acetic acid chromoendoscopy to aid in the detection of right-sided sessile serrated lesions (SSLs), hyperplastic polyps (HPs), and traditional sessile adenomas. The study found that the irrigation of acetic acid solution improved the detection of these lesions, but not adenomas.

The third abstract discusses the safety of cold snare polypectomy in patients on active anti-thrombotic therapy. The study showed that there were no significant adverse events, such as bleeding or thrombotic events, in patients undergoing polypectomy while on anti-thrombotic agents.

The fourth abstract presents a cost-consequence model comparing piecemeal endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) to endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for the treatment of large polyps. The study found that although the upfront cost of ESD was higher than EMR, the overall treatment cost could be lower due to higher R0 resection rates and reduced need for surgery and follow-up colonoscopies.

Lastly, two device-related abstracts are discussed. The first examines the use of the endosponge system in managing anastomotic colorectal leaks, showing high technical and clinical success rates. The second discusses the use of a rigidizing overtube, which can provide stability and prevent loop formation during difficult colonoscopies.

No credits were mentioned in the video.
