Updated Quality Indicators for EUS | June 2025-Recorded Webinar

Video Transcription

Video Summary

In this session, Dr. Girish Mishra presents updated recommendations on quality indicators for endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), developed in collaboration with the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). The focus of the document is on both established and evolving EUS indications, particularly highlighting new therapeutic applications like interventional EUS procedures. Quality indicators for these procedures have been updated to reflect current practices and data. Dr. Mishra emphasizes the importance of being aware of performance targets and adverse event rates for various procedures, which are now more precisely detailed compared to past guidelines. The updated guidelines seek to balance being aspirational with practicality, aimed not only at specialists performing EUS but also for broader gastroenterological practice. The session concludes with recommendations for implementing these guidelines in practice and engaging quality improvement methods. The document is positioned as a resource for both current practitioners and trainees, with an emphasis on using it for self-improvement and institutional quality reviews rather than as a legal credentialing tool.
