In Vivo Metabolic Testing & Mechanisms of Action of EBMTs | November 2021
Release Date: November 2021
Viewing Time:
1 hour
Description
This is a recording of a live webinar that will be available approximately one week after the webinar takes place on November 11, 2021.

This webinar will focus on the basic science and translational aspects of endoscopic bariatric and metabolic therapies (EBMTs). Specifically, as more EBMTs become available, there has been an increase in the number of studies focusing on mechanisms of action of EBMTs. This webinar will consist of two parts. The first part will discuss how to conduct an in-vivo metabolic testing, such as a hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic clamp technique to assess insulin resistance. This will help the audience understand how to interpret literature on mechanisms of action. The second part of the webinar will then discuss the current literature on mechanisms of action of EBMTs with a focus on techniques used to assess these mechanisms.  By the end of the webinar, the audience should have an understanding of how to conduct in-vivo metabolic testing and how to interpret the data on mechanistic studies. Additionally, the audience should have an understanding of the possible mechanistic effects of EBMTs on patients’ metabolic pathways.

Optimal Viewing Experience on GI Leap
Although all browsers continually roll out new versions and updates, we currently recommend using Chrome for the best functionality when accessing GI Leap. Please note that Internet Explorer is not a supported browser. Follow these tips for better streaming and viewing of ASGE videos:

  1. Close other applications and browser tabs. This decreases the load on memory so your computer or other device can focus on streaming.
  2. Use a 5 GHz frequency if your router supports it. The common 2.4 GHz frequency is used by household appliances, so is more crowded. Avoiding it is like getting into the carpool lane on a freeway: smoother sailing.
  3. Use Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi if possible but GI LEAP is built with Wi-Fi in mind.
  4. Monitor your internet connection. If your ISP has promised you 5MBps and you are getting only 1MBps, it's time for a phone call to your internet provider to sort that out.
