Description

This CME activity consists of the ASGE video, Techniques of Endoscopic Therapy in Pancreatic Disorders, (DV043) followed by a post-assessment and evaluation.

This video provides a detailed technical presentation of conceptual and technical approaches to endoscopic pancreatic therapy including ERCP and adjunctive therapies such as EUS-guided drainage of pancreatic collections and EUS-guided rendezvous pancreatic duct drainage, as well as extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy. Also addressed are the associated risks and complexities of these techniques and the supporting infrastructure and background required.

Practicing gastroenterologists, gastroenterology fellows and trainees, medical residents, physician assistants and nurses.

Learning Objectives

As a result of completing this activity, physicians will be able to:

  • Identify the appropriate indications, patients, and technical strategies for endoscopic treatment of dominant pancreatic duct strictures.
  • Understand the use of secretin and methylene blue in pancreatic endotherapy.
  • Apply knowledge of pancreatic duct anatomy to endoscopic interventions.
  • Understand the rationale for different endoscopic approaches to pseudocyst drainage.
