Patients who have undergone bariatric surgery are often referred to an endoscopist for management of diverse problems. Endoscopy aids in the diagnosis of complications. Examinations of gastric remnant and duodenum, as well as ERCP are technically demanding and require specialized tools for successful outcomes. Endoscopic therapeutic interventions play an important role in the multi-disciplinary management of these patients.
This educational program will discuss the role of endoscopy in the management of specific problems encountered in the post-bariatric patient. The clinical presentation, technical aspect of endoscopic interventions and expected outcomes will be discussed. See a preview of this video content here.

Upon completion of this educational activity, participants will be able to: • Enumerate complications that occur following surgery for obesity. • Discuss endoscopic diagnosis and therapeutic interventions in the management of post-bariatric surgical complications. • Describe the approaches to examine the gastric remnant and duodenum and perform ERCP in patients with post-bariatric surgical altered anatomy.
