Urgent vs. Early Endoscopy for Acute Upper GI Bleeding | January 2021
Release Date: January 2021
Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
Description

By intuition, one might think that in the case of emergency gastrointestinal bleeding, the earlier the intervention, the better. However, in these situations, there may be other priorities that need to take place first, such as stabilizing the patient. Join the ASGE Chair of International Committee, Mostafa Ibrahim, MD, FASGE, to discuss the most common presentations and causes of upper GI bleeding. We will then dive into the literature and discuss if there is any true benefit of performing urgent endoscopy (within 6 hours of presentation) as compared to early endoscopy (within 24 hours of presentation). This new monthly series of global education will feature global experts to foster live discussion all over the world.
