Endohepatology Procedures for the Bariatric Population | August 2023
Release Date: August 2023
Viewing Time:
1 hour
Description
Nearly 50% of the US population has obesity. Of these, 90% suffer from non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), which is the leading cause of chronic liver disease and liver transplantation worldwide. This webinar will review Endohepatology procedures that can be used to risk stratify patients with obesity and NAFLD as well as monitor NAFLD status following Endoscopic Bariatric and Metabolic Therapies (EBMTs). Specifically, this webinar will review EUS guided liver biopsy, EUS guided portosystemic pressure gradient measurements and EUS guided shear wave elastography measurements, as well as the effect of EBMTs on NAFLD. Best practices and recent Endohepatology literature will also be covered. To illustrate the incorporation of Endohepatology in EBMT practice, the webinar will conclude with cases being presented.

This is a recording of a webinar held on Thursday, August 24, 2023.

Optimal Viewing Experience on GI Leap
Although all browsers continually roll out new versions and updates, we currently recommend using Chrome for the best functionality when accessing GI Leap. Please note that Internet Explorer is not a supported browser. Follow these tips for better streaming and viewing of ASGE videos:

  1. Close other applications and browser tabs. This decreases the load on memory so your computer or other device can focus on streaming.
  2. Use a 5 GHz frequency if your router supports it. The common 2.4 GHz frequency is used by household appliances, so is more crowded. Avoiding it is like getting into the carpool lane on a freeway: smoother sailing.
  3. Use Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi if possible but GI LEAP is built with Wi-Fi in mind.
  4. Monitor your internet connection. If your ISP has promised you 5MBps and you are getting only 1MBps, it's time for a phone call to your internet provider to sort that out.
