Quality and Safety in Endoscopy Units Around the Globe (On-Demand) | 2023
Overview

As healthcare organizations around the world search for ways to improve and demonstrate their commitment to safe, effective, efficient, patient-centered care, ASGE offers proven strategies to reach these goals through its Quality and Safety in Endoscopy Units Around the Globe course, which is a starting point for units seeking to apply to the Society’s prestigious Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program.

Objectives
  1. List 2-3 measures of quality in endoscopy (knowledge).
  2. Recognize techniques described to make your endoscopy unit more efficient and safer (comprehension).
  3. Indicate 1 method learned you could use to improve patient satisfaction in your endoscopy unit, specifically areas that aid in doctor-patient communication (comprehension).
  4. Define potential sources of infection from contact with various body fluids, transmissibility during endoscopic procedure, and the susceptibility to potential disinfectants (knowledge).
  5. Identify measures you could use within your unit quality assurance program and explain why (analysis).

Optimal Viewing Experience on GI Leap
Because all browsers continually roll out new versions and updates, it is not always practical to point to a particular browser as "better" than another. Because browsers are free, you can easily shift from one to another for various purposes. Whatever browser you are using, here are some tips for better streaming and viewing of ASGE videos:

  1. Close other applications and browser tabs. This decreases the load on memory so your computer or other device can focus on streaming.
  2. Use a 5 GHz frequency if your router supports it. The common 2.4 GHz frequency is used by household appliances, so is more crowded. Avoiding it is like getting into the carpool lane on a freeway: smoother sailing.
  3. Use Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi if possible but GI LEAP is built with Wi-Fi in mind.
  4. Monitor your internet connection. If your ISP has promised you 5MBps and you are getting only 1MBps, it's time for a phone call to your internet provider to sort that out.
