GI Organizational Leadership Development (GOLD) Program | 2023
Release Date: February 17, 2023

Description
The ASGE GI Organizational Leadership Development (GOLD) program was developed to enhance the leadership skills of ASGE members who are 5-10 years into practice. It’s a 12-month program offering gastroenterologists an opportunity to develop and enhance leadership and career development skills through education, coaching, and building professional networks.

The purpose of the GOLD program is to provide the knowledge and skills needed to enhance the path to leadership within academic or private practice and within ASGE. Topics covered will include strategic communication skills, practice management issues, negotiation techniques, financial acumen and conflict resolution. Research has shown that physicians do not receive adequate business education in medical school to help them navigate the increasing complex health systems they will practice in.

The GOLD program will address opportunities and challenges within the context of a gastroenterology career and will help participants put effective, collaborative methods of leadership to work within their organizations and ASGE. Participants will focus on developing their own leadership skills and business knowledge, personal influence, as well as exploring strategies for goal development, and advancement strategies.

This course is supported, in part, by an educational grant from Ironwood Pharmaceuticals.

Optimal Viewing Experience in GI Leap
Although all browsers continually roll out new versions and updates, we currently recommend using Chrome for the best functionality when accessing GI Leap. Please note that Internet Explorer is not a supported browser. Follow these tips for better streaming and viewing of ASGE videos:

  1. Close other applications and browser tabs. This decreases the load on memory so your computer or other device can focus on streaming.
  2. Use a 5 GHz frequency if your router supports it. The common 2.4 GHz frequency is used by household appliances, so is more crowded. Avoiding it is like getting into the carpool lane on a freeway: smoother sailing.
  3. Use Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi if possible but GI LEAP is built with Wi-Fi in mind.
  4. Monitor your internet connection. If your ISP has promised you 5MBps and you are getting only 1MBps, it's time for a phone call to your internet provider to sort that out.
