This course contains recordings from Day One of a Virtual two day course.

The first day covers essential topics such as onboarding for new APPs, fundamental aspects of GI consultation and endoscopic practices, and principles of collaborative practice between APPs and physicians. 

This course is a valuable resource for quality GI education for APPs, aiming to facilitate effective collaboration between APPs and physicians and effectively integrate new APPs into the GI team. 

New this year is case-based studies in radiology, focusing on various conditions that include:

  • Small bowel obstruction
  • Common bile duct stones
  • Pancreatic mass
  • Colonic ileus
Learning Objectives

Day One
Participants will be able to:

  • List recommendations for developing optimal GI consultation skills emphasizing proper medical record documentation
  • Identify common billing codes for GI Consultation, supported by appropriate documentation
  • Discuss best practices in preparing the patient for procedures covering aspects such as informed consent, bowel preparation and addressing the needs of patients with Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass requiring ERCP
  • Explore case examples of imaging studies with an APP-physician team approach

Optimal Viewing Experience in GI Leap
Although all browsers continually roll out new versions and updates, we currently recommend using Chrome for the best functionality when accessing GI Leap. Please note that Internet Explorer is not a supported browser. Follow these tips for better streaming and viewing of ASGE videos:

  1. Close other applications and browser tabs. This decreases the load on memory so your computer or other device can focus on streaming.
  2. Use a 5 GHz frequency if your router supports it. The common 2.4 GHz frequency is used by household appliances, so is more crowded. Avoiding it is like getting into the carpool lane on a freeway: smoother sailing.
  3. Use Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi if possible but GI LEAP is built with Wi-Fi in mind. 
  4. Monitor your internet connection. If your ISP has promised you 5MBps and you are getting only 1MBps, it's time for a phone call to your internet provider to sort that out.
