ASGE Annual GI Advanced Practice Provider Course Bundle (On-Demand) | March 2025

This course contains recordings of a virtual two-day course that took place March 21-22. 2025.

The highly popular two-day course is tailored for Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) within the gastroenterology clinical team. This comprehensive course, now in its sixth year, aims to educate APPs of all experience levels. The first day covers essential topics such as onboarding for new APPs, fundamental aspects of GI consultation and endoscopic practices, and principles of collaborative practice between APPs and physicians. The course includes case-based studies in radiology, focusing on various conditions like pancreatic lesions, biliary stricture and large bowel obstruction.

New this year is a breakout session on day one featuring:

  • Learning options for APPs new to the GI field, including billing and coding
  • Career development for seasoned GI APPs, including defining your value

On day two, the course delves into more advanced concepts in GI endoscopy, such as advanced liver disease, pancreatitis and clinical vignette case-based learning.

This course is a valuable resource for quality GI education for APPs, aiming to facilitate effective collaboration between APPs and physicians and effectively integrate new APPs into the GI team.

Learning Objectives

Day One

Participants will be able to:

  • List recommendations for developing optimal GI consultation skills emphasizing proper medical record documentation
  • Discuss career development and growth for the more experienced GI APPs
  • Identify common billing codes for GI Consultation, supported by appropriate documentation
  • Discuss best practices in preparing the patient for procedures covering aspects such as informed consent, sedation, bowel preparation, and peri-procedural medication management
  • Review best clinical practices for general and advanced therapeutic endoscopic procedures
  • Explore case examples of imaging studies with an APP-physician team approach

Day Two

Participants will be able to:

  • Discuss managing liver conditions to diagnose and treat cirrhosis and its complications
  • Understand the management of acute and chronic pancreatitis
  • Evaluate GI symptoms to apply strategies for diagnosing and managing diarrhea, bloating, and small bowel disorders
  • Review advancements inflammatory bowel disease management
  • Explore the management of GERD, Barrett’s Esophagus, dysphagia and esophageal perforations
  • Learn approaches to managing ingested foreign bodies
