This ASGE Masterclass, facilitated by expert gastroenterologists and endoscopists, focuses upon current techniques, tips and tricks and trends forward in colonoscopy. We all recognize that colorectal cancer (CRC) has increased in adults aged 40 to 54 years, whereas colonoscopy rates increased only for adults aged 45 to 54 years, suggesting a mismatch in colonoscopy trends and CRC incidence patterns. We discuss why these trends are occurring and what we as gastroenterologists can do to shift this pattern. We also note that the colonoscopy devices market is anticipated to grow in the coming years. The major factors that are driving the market growth include the growing prevalence of colorectal cancer, increasing preference for minimally invasive techniques and technological advancements. We anticipate new device and medical accessories to launch in the coming years, promising future emergence of more front-line therapies, and favorable initiatives that will likely fuel the use of colonoscopy expansion. Many new and forthcoming resources that center colonoscopy procedures with high-quality imaging and operative capabilities, various groups are shifting toward optimized visualization systems that integrate colonoscope and camera. We address how AI colonoscopes could increase colorectal polyp detection rates by using artificial intelligence. There is much to cover and learn in this ASGE Masterclass.
