Description

This CME activity consists of the ASGE video, Diagnosis and Treatment of Early Gastric Cancer (DV011), followed by a post-assessment and evaluation.

Worldwide, gastric cancer has the highest mortality among all gastrointestinal cancers and second only to lung cancer. When identified early, gastric cancer can often be cured. This educational DVD highlights the important features of early gastric cancer through the use of video tutorial and photo library. In addition, endoscopic treatment options for early gastric cancer will be discussed. 
 
By participating in this educational activity learners will gain knowledge in early detection of gastric cancer which will ultimately improve mortality associated with this disease.

Target Audience

Practicing gastrointestinal endoscopists, gastroenterologists, gastroenterology fellows and trainees, medical residents, physician assistants and nurses.

Learning Objectives

As a result of completing this activity, physicians will be able to:

  • Discuss the benefits of endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) in the treatment of early gastric cancer.
  • Discuss the Paris classification for gastrointestinal neoplasia.
  • Recognize some of the benefits and limitations of endoscopic therapy for early gastric cancer as compared to gastrectomy.
  • Recognize the layers of involvement of early gastric cancer.

To complete this activity,
1. View the video.
2. Complete the Post –assessment by selecting the single best answer for each multiple choice question. You will be able to change your answer at any time until you click on the finish button. Multiple attempts are given and each question must be answered correctly before proceeding to the next question. Persons scoring 100% pass the test and can print a CME certificate. Exams can be saved to access at a later date.
3. Complete the Evaluation.

You may complete the activity in one sitting, or you may save your work in progress and complete it at a later date. However, to earn CME credits, you must complete the activity prior to the CME expiration date.
