Description

This CME activity consists of the ASGE video, Chromoendoscopy with Targeted Biopsy to Detect Nonpolypoid Colorectal Neoplasms, followed by a post-assessment and evaluation.

This 27-minute, 2014 AV Award educational video describes the chromoendoscopy and targeted biopsy technique to detect the particularly difficult to find nonpolypoid colorectal neoplasms in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The technique is described in detail with numerous examples of the superficial elevated, flat and depressed neoplasms in IBD. This video provides practical information that enables clinicians to begin using chromoendoscopy in their daily practice, including how to prepare the indigo carmine solution necessary for chromoendoscopy. Clinical trial results are summarized to provide the rationale of using chromoendoscopy with targeted biopsy compared to white light.  This presentation is focused to provide the necessary training for busy endoscopists and their staff to begin this cutting edge technique in order to increase their efficacy and efficiency in preventing colorectal cancer in patients with IBD.
