This CME activity consists of the ASGE video, Endoscopic Treatment of Zenker's Diverticulum: Principles and Techniques for Successful, Flexible Endoscopic Myotomy, followed by a post-assessment and evaluation.
The treatment of Zenker’s diverticulum can be challenging in elderly patients with multiple medical comorbidities who may not be good candidates for an open surgical or rigid endoscopic repair. The technique of flexible endoscopic myotomy is a relatively new approach and is becoming increasingly practiced among other therapeutic endoscopic procedures. The ability to perform flexible endoscopic myotomy is an invaluable addition to the armamentarium of the practicing therapeutic gastroenterologist. This educational video program will provide a foundation for understanding the pathophysiology, tools, treatment strategies and challenges in treating patients with Zenker’s diverticulum. This focus of this video will be to emphasize an effective step-by-step technique and highlight key principles for the safe and successful treatment of Zenker’s diverticulum using flexible endoscopic myotomy.See a preview of this video content here.
