Kenneth J. Chang, MD, FASGE
Dr. Chang is Professor of Medicine and Chief, Division of Gastroenterology at the University of California, Irvine, School of Medicine. He is also Executive Director of the H.H. Chao Comprehensive Digestive Disease Center and holds the Vincent and Anna Kong Endowed Chair in GI Endoscopic Oncology. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
Dr. Chang completed his MD degree and residency from the Brown University Medical School, Providence, RI. He then finished his academic fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of California, Irvine, where he has been a faculty member for more than 25 years. He has authored over 350 scientific papers, book chapters and abstracts, and hold numerous patents in medical technology.
Dr. Chang is internationally recognized for his advanced expertise in gastrointestinal endoscopy and new technologies. He developed and pioneered endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided fine needle aspiration (FNA), as well as novel techniques for EUS-guided fine needle injection (FNI), paving the way to interventional endoscopy and interventional EUS. Dr. Chang’s career passion has been to expand the use of endoscopy within the field of oncology. This has stemmed the entire spectrum of early and precise detection and endoscopic treatment of cancer and pre-cancerous lesions in the esophagus and pancreas. One of the most widely used endoscopic device world-wide is the Barrx90 radiofrequency (RF) device, which bears the name “Chang Cap”. More recently, his focus has included the endoscopic treatment of conditions that predispose patients to cancer, namely gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and obesity. His endoscopic mastery includes EUS, EUS/FNAB, ERCP, Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR), Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD), Per-oral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM), G-POEM, Z-POEM, Trans-oral Incisionless Fundoplication (TIF), Stretta, RFA, Cryotherapy, Photodynamic Therapy, Endomicroscopy, and Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG).
Optimal Viewing Experience on GI Leap
Because all browsers continually roll out new versions and updates, it is not always practical to point to a particular browser as "better" than another. Because browsers are free, you can easily shift from one to another for various purposes. Whatever browser you are using, here are some tips for better streaming and viewing of ASGE videos:
- Close other applications and browser tabs. This decreases the load on memory so your computer or other device can focus on streaming.
- Use a 5 GHz frequency if your router supports it. The common 2.4 GHz frequency is used by household appliances, so is more crowded. Avoiding it is like getting into the carpool lane on a freeway: smoother sailing.
- Use Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi if possible but GI LEAP is built with Wi-Fi in mind.
- Monitor your internet connection. If your ISP has promised you 5MBps and you are getting only 1MBps, it's time for a phone call to your internet provider to sort that out.
