Calling all GI Fellows! Come hang out with Dr. Walter Chan and his colleagues leaders in the endoscopy field as they lead the next ASGE Endo Hangout interactive webinar entitled Esophageal Motility.

Esophageal and swallowing symptoms including dysphagia, reflux, regurgitation, and chest pain are among the most common presentations to a gastroenterologist’s office. With the development of novel technologies, endoscopic techniques, and manometric algorithm, the understanding, evaluation and management of esophageal motility disorders have significantly advanced.  This will be a case-based discussion of the principles, diagnostic approaches, and treatment of esophageal motility disorders.  Important topics that will be discussed include the performance of esophageal manometry using basic and provocative maneuvers; analysis of manometric data with Chicago classification; value of intraluminal impedance; novel endoscopic diagnostic technology such as impedance planimetry; and options for endoscopic therapy.

This will be a case-based discussion. Audience interaction is encouraged and the faculty and moderators will prioritize discussion of topics and questions provided by the audience. We look forward to your participation! Registration is complimentary!

Learning Objectives
  1. To discuss the diagnostic and management approach to esophageal motility disorders, including achalasia, esophagogastric outflow obstruction (EGJOO), and disorders of peristalsis.
  2. To review the basic principles, techniques, interpretation, and selection of diagnostic modalities for esophageal motility disorders, including esophageal manometry, intraluminal impedance, impedance-planimetry or functional luminal imaging probe (FLIP), and radiographic imaging studies.
  3. To familiarize with the analysis of esophageal manometry using Chicago classification v4.0.

Optimal Viewing Experience on GI Leap
Although all browsers continually roll out new versions and updates, we currently recommend using Chrome for the best functionality when accessing GI Leap. Please note that Internet Explorer is not a supported browser. Follow these tips for better streaming and viewing of ASGE videos:

  1. Close other applications and browser tabs. This decreases the load on memory so your computer or other device can focus on streaming.
  2. Use a 5 GHz frequency if your router supports it. The common 2.4 GHz frequency is used by household appliances, so is more crowded. Avoiding it is like getting into the carpool lane on a freeway: smoother sailing.
  3. Use Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi if possible but GI LEAP is built with Wi-Fi in mind. 
  4. Monitor your internet connection. If your ISP has promised you 5MBps and you are getting only 1MBps, it's time for a phone call to your internet provider to sort that out.
